The Nashville Wine Duo visit Great Frogs Winery in Annapolis, MD

At the beginning of August, we flew out to Annapolis, Maryland to see family. We researched wineries in the area and came across Great Frogs Winery.

This beautiful winery is located about 10 minutes outside downtown Annapolis. Nate and Andrea O’Shea are the Owners and Winemakers of Great Frogs Winery.

We had the pleasure of spending the day with them, listening to them speak passionately about wine and what they are trying to do with their wine.. We sampled over 10 wines that day and we really connected with Nate and his wife Andrea, so we wanted to introduce all of you to this great winery!

Great Frogs Winery has over 50 acres of space and surrounding forest, so you have many places to enjoy and drink your wine in a cool rustic setting.

The first wine we decided to try was their Rosé which had a pale pink color, aromas of grapefruit, and strawberries on the nose. Flavors of Grapefruit, strawberry and minerals with a light crisp finish. This Rosé is 50/50 blend of Grenache and Mourvedre grapes.

This Petit Verdot is a 2014 and we smell leather, earthy soil notes, along with grass and oak. This is a rustic and Smokey wine. We could also smell the alcohol in a good way. After talking a sip of the wine, we could taste dark fruits, black cherries, tannins with a little bit of spice on the back end as well. This wine would pair well with rich cuts of meat. If you are not a huge meat eater this wine pairs great with aged and smoked cheeses which is why we chose some smoked Gouda we got at Trader Joe’s. Also for those of you that don’t eat dairy or meat, eggplant or mushrooms would pair nicely as well! We can just picture a wonderful portobello mushroom burger with this!

Unfortunately, Annapolis, MD over the weekend was just hit by a tornado which ripped the roof off their tasting room and did quite a bit of other damage. The city has shut them down so they can rebuild.

So now would be a perfect time to order some wine off their website and help this great winery out! They ship to 39 states and their wine is top notch! They have a wine club that you can become a part of as well, you can find all of that information on their website www.greatfrogs.com
